In a perfect world, we’d be BFFs with Maine Mendoza. The dubsmash queen looks loads of fun to be with–we just have a feeling she’s not KJ and she’s totally up for trying out new things. And seeing how transparent she was with her kilig after seeing Alden for the first time on Eat Bulaga (which feels like eons ago, given how big AlDub is now), we know that she’d always keep things real. We’d also turn to her for beauty tips–because we totally love her looks!
Plus, Yaya Dub seems like she’s brimming with positive juju.–and not just because her Ruby Woo smile is enough to light up a room. Going through a rough patch right now? Here are seven feel-good nuggets of wisdom from Maine Mendoza that you should take to heart:
1. Don’t be kuripot when it comes to expressing gratitude.
Maine’s Instagram account reached a million followers a couple of weeks back, and she did not hesitate to go all-out in the gratitude department. It’s easy to get lost in negativity when you’re facing a challenge, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a break and try to count your blessings instead. Here’s a big kiss back at ya, Maine!
2. Smile lang.
Sure, it’s hard to smile when you’re having a tough day. But sometimes, a little dose of positivity can go a long way. It might sound corny, but if you’re feeling super stressed, think happy thoughts (like how cute Alden Richards is or James Reid’s abs) to banish those bad juju away. As Maine’s caption says, “Tama yan, smile lang!”
3. Celebrate!
Are you so bogged down by stress that you forget to celebrate life’s little joys? Look for ways to treat yourself at the end of a long day, and celebrate seemingly little milestones, such as getting through a tough week, submitting a tough report on time, or finishing your workout early in the morning.
4. Treat yourself.
Who says girls shouldn’t be seen happily munching on grub? Don’t be afraid to pig out when you really need to (just don’t do it every day!). Here’s Maine keeping it real.
5. Good vibes dapat always.
‘Nuff said.
6. It’s okay to get lost.
There are days when we feel like we don’t know what to do with our lives, and that’s okay. We don’t have to figure everything out right now–in fact, we shouldn’t feel pressured to figure things out all the time. So what if things aren’t making sense at the moment? It’s not necessarily a bad thing, as long as we don’t lose sight of our values.
7. Always believe in yourself.
Here, Maine keeps it real by sharing her own insecurities. We applaud her for sharing such a personal thing–after all, it’s hard to talk about your own fears in public. But we love how she ends on a positive note, by saying that she’s starting to believe in her own self: “Sapat na din para masabi kong proud ako sa sarili ko.”
