When it comes to health and fitness, few local celebrities come to mind as quickly as forever hunk, Piolo Pascual. We caught up with him during his recent launch as brand ambassador of Essilor, where we learned about ways to keep your eyes healthy. At the event, Piolo shared his own reasons for being concerned with eye health: “Eye care is a serious matter because it is essential to performing practically all of our daily tasks. Without good vision, we can only do so much, and this limitation can stand in the way of achieving our goals.”
Not that the hot hunk is in danger of such limitations anytime soon; he boasts 20/20 vision which he maintains, in part, because he takes measures to protect his eyes against things like UV rays and harmful blue light from gadgets and the like.
But eye health is just part of the overall package. Piolo also shared how he keeps himself healthy and in shape despite the hectic schedule he keeps, between his role as ambassador for several brands and work for his upcoming movies. “They’re not really special, it’s just a matter of discipline,” he says. “As a matter of fact, you can do it too if you’re just disciplined and determined.”
Read on to learn Piolo’s tips for keeping a healthy lifestyle:
1. Eat right.
“I don’t skip meals, and I eat rice, too.” According to Piolo, it is important not to skip meals because your body needs energy throughout the day. Skipping meals will make you tend to eat more at the end of the day, and in the long run making it harder for you to lose the unwanted weight. “Eat healthy and in the right amount,” Piolo shares. Eating healthy means more veggies, fruits, and lean meat, but also no alcohol and junk food.
2. Get active.
[crp]“I like to take part in many sports activities,” Piolo says. “Not just going to the gym to work out, but to also run and bike. It’s great for your body and for your health.” Engaging in sports keeps your body in shape and your metabolism up. When you’re active, you burn more calories which helps you lose weight and stay in shape. If you’re on a tight budget and going to the gym is not on your list of necessary expenses, you can always do other activities such as jogging, biking, brisk walking or even doing the household chores! You may not be aware of it, but these little activities help you stay away from leading a sedentary lifestyle.
3. Sleep well.
“When I’m not shooting a movie or a teleserye which might require me to work throughout the wee hours of the morning, I make sure that I get at least eight hours of sleep,” he tells us. It is important that your body gets some much-needed rest and recuperation after all the work you do during the day. When you sleep late, it is only natural for you to still feel tired and unrested the following day.
Piolo’s health tips are very basic, but they will take a lot of discipline and willpower on your end if you want to attain a healthy body and lifestyle. Remember that dieting won’t be good enough if you don’t include exercise and having a healthy attitude in life.
