March is National Women’s Month and we would like to remember it through TV shows that bring out the best in every woman. Take a little inspiration from these ladies that entertain us and help us be better. Below are six TV series that will bring out the strong, independent woman in you.
Girls
Nothing is more empowering than a TV series named after women. Starring Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet, Girls revolves around the lives of four best friends from New York City. The story is a roller coaster of emotions as they deal with romantic relationships and diverse career changes. Cat fights occur on a regular basis, too, so it’s a great show to learn about womanhood.

Parks and Recreation
Since we started talking about women and politics, let us not forget about Leslie Knope, the mid-level bureaucrat from Parks and Recreation. Starring Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation is a political-comedy sitcom set in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The series follows the life of Leslie Knope as she implements park and community developments. Together with her staff and neighbors, the result is a funny, socio-political mayhem.

2 Broke Girls
There’s nothing empowering about the word “broke”, but 2 Broke Girls thinks otherwise. 2 Broke Girls shows how life can be when you combine the lives of Max, a poor waitress, and Caroline, a daughter of an American multimillionaire. Their stories clash when Caroline’s family declared bankruptcy, which forced her to share a room and job with Max. The two girls survive life by doing a nine to five, and by starting a small cupcake business.

Transparent
Transparent does not star a woman, but it’s the deepest, most relevant show in this list. Transparent is a about a father that comes out as a transsexual after marrying a woman and raising three children. Starring Jeffey Tambor as Maura Pfefferman, Transparent revolves on Maura’s sexuality and his children’s personalities. The series will open you to the battles of the LGBT community, including family issues and social acceptance.

The Good Wife
If you’re thinking about tea-sipping housewives, better think again. The Good Wife revolves around the life of Alicia Florrick a litigator that investigates on the case of her husband’s corruption charge and sex scandal.
