As beautiful and amazing as being in love is, falling in love too easily can be a problem for a lot of people. People who fall in love easily is a lot more likely to be hurt or find themselves in a tragic unrequited love scenario. Are you the type of person who falls in love easily–perhaps more easily than is good for you? Here are 5 signs that you should look for:
1. You can’t put your phone down.
Technology-addiction is already a pretty large problem in this modern era, where people freak out if they accidentally leave their phones at home. When it comes to romance, though, it can reach a whole new level of addiction. If you recently met a guy and suddenly can’t take your eyes off of your phone in hopes he’ll text or call, or if you find yourself getting anxious if more than a few minutes passes by before he responds to the texts you send, you might be the type of woman who falls in love too easily. Put your phone down for a while, and take a breather–his texts won’t disappear, and most guys don’t like this kind of obsessive behavior, anyways.
2. You’re dating a guy who was your rebound.
A lot of times, brokenhearted men and women alike find themselves in the arms of a rebound lover even before they’ve gotten over their ex. A lot of times this culminates in a one-night-stand and nothing more, other times people seek a new person to date. If you always find yourself dating someone new just to help you get over the last guy you’ve dated–and then end up falling in love with this person who you never meant to have anything serious with–it’s a sign that you might be the type who falls in love easily.
3. You’re picturing a future with him before you’ve had your first date.
In the beginning of a relationship, you should be focused on getting to know each other better–and not much more than that. After all, you can’t plan a future with someone you barely know, right? If you find yourself seriously planning and talking about the future with a guy who just gave you his number on Friday last week, that can be a problem. You’re falling in love far too fast, before you even know if the two of you are compatible yet, and it’s likely to lead to getting your heart broken.
4. You’re neglecting your own life.
While it is, of course, normal to spend a lot of time with a new guy that you’re seeing, it’s important to remember that he’s not your entire life. You have an entire life that doesn’t revolve around him–friends, your job, school, etc.–and you need to take care to not let those things fall through the cracks just because you have a new boyfriend. If you start canceling plans with your friends in order to see your guy last minute or calling in late to work just because you’d rather stay in bed with your man and a cup of coffee a little longer, step away for a bit and re-assess your priorities. Don’t let your new boyfriend take over your life, girl!
5. You’re dependent on your relationship for happiness.
Are you the kind of person who goes from relationship to relationship with little or no time in between? When you find yourself single for more than a couple of weeks, do you get lonely and depressed? Do you only feel happy when you have a romantic partner to share it with? If you answered yes to any of these three questions, it means your own happiness is dependent on being in a relationship, and you’re prone to falling in love way too quickly.
Falling in love fast isn’t always a bad thing. It means you have a big heart and likely means that you always look for the best in people. However, if you’re not careful, a person who falls in love too fast is prone to reckless behavior that can endanger his or her heart. We can’t always help our feelings, but we can still control our behavior. If you are the type of woman who tends to fall in love fast and hard, it would be a good idea to watch your actions to make sure you don’t end up hurting yourself in the end.
