You feel like all 24 hours of your life is dedicated to work? It’s important that we keep a balance between our work and personal lives. This way, we learn to be productive without pushing ourselves too far. Here are four time-management tips every working girl should know:
1. Organize by making schedules for work and personal life.
We effectively complete tasks when we know how to manage our time. This tip shouldn’t be just for office work. Set time for your personal life as well. This simply means making sure that you have enough time for work and play. For example, instead of doing overtime work every day, why not set specific days when you can do as much work as you can. Consequently, the days you won’t do overtime should be used to events or activities that will cultivate your interests. How about you work overtime during Mondays through Wednesdays and dedicate Thursday and Fridays to go home on time to work on your hobbies?
2. Set life goals..
If you feel that you need more guidelines to be able to achieve work-life balance, try setting goals for yourself. Usually, at work, setting of goals are mandatory. However, in life we don’t create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. For example, set a goal to start reading those stacks of unread books that you recently bought. Set a goal to meet your friends for drinks every week. How about learning a new language?
3. Incorporate your personal interests with your work.
Aside from spending time for work and personal life separately, an easy way to start balancing work and life is by incorporating them with each other. If calligraphy is your hobby, why not make the bulletin board announcements more interesting by creating them in your calligraphy style? This way, you won’t get to focus too much on work and you’ll get little breaks of sanity in the form of your hobbies.
4. Don’t let work take control your life.
Ultimately, you have to ensure that your priorities will always be in balance. If you prioritize your work too much, you’d probably spend more time working. Even if you’re done working, you might still be thinking about work too. Try to avoid this by prioritizing your personal life as well. Don’t compare your work load with your hobbies and interests. Never think that one is an inferior task than the other. If you are able to do that, it’ll be easier for you to appropriate time and effort in both your work and your personal life.
Having balance is essential to achieving happiness and healthy well-being. Don’t let the stress of your work get too much of you! However, don’t slack off and just focus on your hobbies. When you find the right balance between your work and your personal life, you’ll find that you’ll be more happy and productive.
