There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing the same number when you step into the weighing scale, after weeks and weeks of giving yourself fully to a workout routine. Have you ever considered revamping your morning habits? Some seemingly harmless habits like skipping breakfast or not hydrating in the morning could actually help you gain weight!
Here are five unhealthy morning habits that could be damaging your weight-loss efforts. Better ditch them, stat!
1. Skipping breakfast
In an effort to cut down a few pounds fast, most people skip the first meal of the day. But the thing is, it gives you more harm than good. First, you cannot properly work on an empty stomach, and this might lead you to feel weak way before lunch time. Second, skipping meals in general is a sure-fire way to get hyperacidity. And lastly, skipping breakfast could actually make you gain weight because it could lead you to crave for high-calorie grub later on (and it’s harder to say no to junk food when you’re hungry).
2. Drinking calorie-laden coffee
Most likely, the coffee you buy in the morning has tons of syrup, sugar, fat (in the form of full-fat milk) or cream, which can hurt your weight loss efforts. Stick to black coffee and forget the add-ons.
3. Not drinking enough water
We rarely drink water after waking up. Skipping hydration in the morning, however, can lead to poor food choices later.
You see, you’re dehydrated when you wake up, since you haven’t downed any liquids while you’re asleep. That thirst can be mistaken as hunger, so the tendency is for you to open the fridge and grab ready-to-eat food.
Drinking water first thing in the morning can fill you up and fire up your metabolism. Make this as your early-morning habit instead of ditching h2o.
4. Watching TV while eating
Most of us are used to watching the news in the morning while eating breakfast. This is a big no-no for those who want to cut some pounds, as it makes you eat mindlessly. Sometimes, we can’t help but get hooked on whatever we’re watching, and we fail to notice that we already had three rounds of fried rice.
If you can’t avoid eating while watching, prepare the right amount of food before going in front of the TV.
5. Having an unhealthy breakfast
If skipping breakfast hurts weight loss, then having a upsized fast-food meals wouldn’t hurt, right? Nope, not quite. It’s important that you take note just healthy your food choices are, especially at the start of the day. Starting the day with a healthy mindset will help curb your cravings and make you go for healthier options instead.
