Have you shopped for gifts yet? If you’re not up for the busy and crowded holiday shopping trip to the malls or tiangges, but want to give out memorable presents just as well, then get those creative juices flowing.
For this year’s Christmas gift-giving, try going handmade and heartfelt with these cute ideas.
Keychains And Charms
If you have a truckload of beads and strings at home, put them to good use and make unique charms and keychains for each of your girlfriends. Thread colorful beads together and secure them with knots, for that quirky style. You may also opt to use key rings, which you can get from a bookstore, or make one by twisting thick wires.
Beaded Accessories
For Christmas last year, I made around 70 bracelets for my mom and aunts, who each gave out around 30 pieces to their colleagues and friends. You can do the same for your barkada’s resident kikays. Thread beads in alternating patterns using stretchable nylon, or weave strings together for the quintessential friendship bracelet style.
For necklaces, you can either create unique pendants and insert them in long chains, or sew small clamps to the ends of the laces or other fabrics to come up with a makeshift choker. Your fashionable friends will love the edgy look.
Portraits
Poke fun on your selfie queen gal pal by drawing her portrait. You don’t have to use charcoal or have mad shading skills to make one. If your aesthetic leans more towards digital art, line art, and cartooning, render a toon version of one of their infamous selfies. Print them out on cards, stickers, notepads, wherever you think they may (or may not haha) want to see their face on.
You may also want to make one for bae, using a couple photo. Print it on a pillow he’d love to cuddle all year long.
Framed Poems
Is Lang Leav hiding behind those sassy Instagram or Facebook posts of yours? Unleash her this holiday season and use your gift of words as a gift to those who matter most. Write poems and letters that express how much the fam, the girls, or your special someone, mean to you. Don’t be afraid to go the cheesy route once in a while. Print them on fancy paper or board, and paint whimsical borders to match your creation. Keep them looking great by framing them.
This Christmas, give loved ones a piece of your heart through presents that you made yourself. After all, no one can resist something cute, heartfelt and made just for them.
