Are you the kind of lady who laughs out loud when she hears or reads funny hugots, but is silently dying inside because she thinks they’re meant for her? If you are, then you’re guilty of not seeing the plus side of going solo.
Come to the bright side, and we’ll let you in on a not-so-secret secret: Single ladies are just as happy (if not happier) than many couples we know, and if there’s something they don’t miss about not being in a relationship, it’s these five life lessons single ladies know well:
1. If you’re single, you won’t be forced to hang out with people you don’t like.
One of the not-so-good sides of having an SO is those group dates you can’t say no to. But when you’re single, you can almost always choose who you want to spend your lazy Sundays with. Hello, Drive-Thru!
2. You can have as many crushes as you want.
Yep, some guys can be sensitive about our James Reid-related bawls of kiligs, and we can’t help but be affected too, sometimes. But this doesn’t happen when you’re single. You’re free to have a very ideal, exciting polygamous love life with anyone—be it anime or live action.
3. There’s no need to impress anyone’s family.
Impressing the folks at home is an inevitable fate for many, especially if your SO comes from a very strict or traditional family, where all the relatives have big expectations for their unico hijo. However, there’s zero chance of this happening when you’re on your own, savoring your weird-flavored omelet creations.
4. You have time for the girls.
Being single means having more time for the best ladies whom you cannot normally accommodate when you’re dating. Let’s face it: they’re the only ones who know how to comfort you when you’re drunk and mad and in between tissue sheets than them.
5. You have all the time to focus on “me,” not “we.”
We all love having someone to do our favorites and crazy stunts with, but having your own me-time also matters. Own yourself, own your life.
So cheer up when those love-centric hugots get through to you, and trust that those who made them up are just doing it for the LOLs. The most important thing is to take it easy and take time to appreciate where you are and what you have.
