Friends–what would we do without them? They may make fun of us, our OOTDs, and even taste in men, but they also bring out the best in us. They know us inside out–and they make us better persons. Here are five ways how:
1. They remind us that it’s okay to be ourselves.
You feel confident with them around. You’re never conscious because you know they accept you for who you are. In this world full of criticism, especially with social media dominating our lives, it’s comforting to know that there will always be a person you can just hang out with, without fear of being judged.
2. They tell things to you straight up.
There are times when we would screw up, and we can count on our friends to call on us whenever that happens. It’s good to know that there will always be people who will always have our back and keep things real, no matter what.
3. They know how to make you feel better.
You’ll never be miserable with them around. Sure, you may have failed in that job interview or got your heartbroken by some guy, but friends put so much effort in cheering you up so the pain will be bearable.
4. They encourage you to try new things.
Remember when you wanted to enroll for post-graduate studies, but you nearly chickened out because of the entrance exam? How about the time you were so scared of flying and your entire barkada encouraged you to go with them to Palawan? Your friends will always be the first ones to encourage you to broaden your horizons and live a full life.
5. You know they will always have you back, no matter what.
There are times when our insecurities get the best of us, that we feel like we can’t go beyond the problems and challenges that we’re currently up against. But despite all of our fears, we know that our buddies will be there to comfort and encourage us.
Imagine a world without friends and surely, it would be gray, incomplete, and boring. So treasure your buddies, fill them with love and make them better by being a good friend, too.–because that’s what friends are for.
