The holiday season has arrived, and it seems like everyone is already crazy with so much to do and so little time before Christmas arrives! You don’t want the holiday season to turn from a warm, festive feeling of giving and loving into a time associated with stress and chaos, so don’t forget to take a moment to just enjoy the season, and save a few nights for your special someone.
There may not be snow in the Philippines, or some of the other things typically associated with the Christmas season throughout the rest of the world, but there are plenty of things you can still do to get in the holiday spirit. Here’s a few date suggestions that you should try to find time for during this holiday season.
1. Go ice skating.
We may not have frozen lakes outside, with the hot sun beating down constantly all year long, but lucky for us, there are at least a few malls that maintain ice skating rinks. Grab your mittens, bundle up because it will actually get a little bit cold, and grab your honey’s hand for an ice skating session at one of these malls. The artificial cold may not be quite the same, but it’s pretty close. You can also head to Snow World at Star City afterward and go sledding together. Nothing like some snow in your clothes to make it really feel like Christmas!
2. Go caroling together.
If you’re really looking for a way to bring the holiday spirit into your dates, spend a few hours rehearsing your favorite Christmas tunes with your man, and then go caroling together! Standing in front of someone’s house after it’s dark, with Christmas lights flickering all around you as you sing traditional holiday songs, it will truly feel like Christmas. Plus, it’s a totally free date: no costs required, just the voices you already have and the love in your hearts.
3. Have a hot cocoa date and write Christmas cards.
Hot cocoa and peppermint are flavors often associated with the holiday season, so why not indulge yourself? Take your sweetie to your favorite coffee shop and share a cup of hot cocoa together. Most coffee shops will also add some peppermint flavoring to your cocoa, if you ask, so give that a shot! You can even write Christmas cards for your loved ones for a truly traditional take on the holiday season. Sharing a traditional holiday beverage with your sweetheart is a wonderful way to feel close, and to take a break from the holiday chaos and just relax together.
4. Go to a theme park.
Going on a theme park date will unleash the inner child in you and will instantly get you in the mood for holiday fun. Ride a roller coaster, try bump cars, or go for a ferris wheel ride. You’ll surely have fun holiday memories with your SO.
5. Volunteer for a good cause.
The holiday season is supposed to embrace the spirit of giving. Instead of panicking, trying to buy gifts for everyone you’ve ever met, and their cousins too, take an evening to give back to those who are truly in need. Find out what local place needs volunteers, and bring your honey along. If you can find a cause that means something to you personally, that’s even better! It will be a date to remember, and the warm feeling you’ll have from giving back to your community will last you until New Year’s.
Whatever your plans may be for the rest of the holiday season, no matter how busy you expect it to be for you, take the season to really appreciate the smaller things in life and remember that Christmas isn’t about giving or receiving the best presents. It’s about spending time with those you love, and showing appreciation for those around you.
